Habitat for Humanity recently celebrated the completion of their Hudson Hills subdivision in West Asheville. The houses are built using a combination of volunteer labor and "sweat equity" (in which the future homeowner puts time into building their home) which in turn drives down the price of each home. Funding for the neighborhood comes from corporate, government, and private donations & grants. Now that the subdivision is complete, 24 families have a place they can call home.
