The WNC Diversity Engagement Coalition is celebrating over five years of building a network of organizations dedicated to diversty, equity, and inclusion.
Join WNC DEC member organizations, including: AB-Tech, Asheville Area Chamber of Commerce, Asheville City Schools, Biltmore Company, Buncombe County, Buncombe County Schools, Carolina Day School, City of Asheville, MAHEC, McGuire, Wood & Bissette, Mission Health, Rainbow Mountain Community School, UNC Asheville, United Way of Asheville & Buncombe County, Warren Wilson College, YMCA of Western North Carolina, and YWCA of Asheville....for a night of reminiscing, partying, and making new magical moments as we all seek to champion diversity, equity and inclusion in Asheville and beyond.
For their next Networking Social, they want to take a moment to celebrate, dance, connect, sing, vision, and share stories in honor of the hope that started WNC Diversity Engagement Coalition (WNC DEC) back in 2013, and furthers the mission today. They feel honored to be working with you all for 5 YEARS + counting so we're pulling out the balloons, cake, DJ, photo + story booth and door prizes for this one!

A Strategic Priority
In 2017, the Buncombe County Board of Commissioners identified six key issues it wants to prioritize to foster a healthier community and to supplement their already existing Sustainability Plan. The areas of focus include: affordable housing, clean and renewable energy, a diversy community workforce, early childhood education, the justice resource center, and opioids.
Cultivating a robust, inclusive local economy with a diverse workforce helps to create pipeline to jobs and education for all. Through the goal of a Diverse Community Workforce, the commissioners want to diversity the development and expansion of businesses and industry, invest in neighborhoods, increase job skills training, support both small and large businsses alike, and internally, maintain a diverse, quality workforce of County employees to reflect our community.
