Q: Are there any resources for temporary emergency financial assistance?

A: The County’s Economic Services oversees the distribution of Emergency Assistance funds designated for families in short-term financial crisis due to unusual circumstances. Money is available for housing deposits, rent, electricity, water and more. Q: Does the County provide any form of child care financial assistance?

A: Child care financial assistance is available as long as you meet certain income requirements. Please be aware funding for this program is limited and there are often wait lists. You can find information about eligibility, making an appointment and more by calling (828) 250-5592 or click here

Q: Is transportation expense assistance available?

A: Buncombe County partners with various agencies to provide Mountain Mobility. Call Mountain Mobility to determine eligibility and service area options at (828) 250-6750 or click here. You will be asked to provide the passenger's name, street address, phone number, date of birth and Social Security number. Other information may be requested based on eligibility factors.
