Craggy Bridge located at the intersection of Old Leicester Highway and Riverside Drive will be closed for maintenance until mid-September. “The bridge surface had deteriorated and the DOT had received many complaints about its rough condition,” DOT engineer Mark Gibbs says. The DOT plans on replacing the top layer of asphalt with concrete, creating a brand new smooth surface for motorist.
Traffic is being detoured 2.7 miles south to Pearson Bridge. Drivers can use Adams Hill, Riverview Church and Gorman Bridge roads to connect with Old Leicester Highway west of the French Broad River.
