Buncombe County Sheriff’s Office deputies are conducting an investigation into an attempted robbery in Swannanoa. The call came into the Sheriff’s Office Communications center at 7:40 am. The incident occurred at 62 Chalmers Way in Swannanoa. A male suspect attempted to enter the residence, and a struggle occurred between the suspect and the resident; the resident was armed with a handgun which discharged during the struggle striking the resident. She sustained non-life threatening injuries, and was transported to Mission Hospital.
The suspect is described as a white male, with gray hair and a full beard. He is described as being average height and build; the suspect was also wearing a gray toboggan.
