The Buncombe County Sheriff’s Office Detention Center Division is holding a donation drive for the Black Mountain Children’s Home at the Wal-Mart located on Bleachery Boulevard in Asheville. The donation drive will be held around the clock from Friday, December 13 to Sunday, December 15 at midnight. The drive will be staffed by Detention Officers volunteering their time.
The Detention Division is requesting that hygiene items, clothing, sporting goods, home supplies and miscellaneous items such as family-friendly DVDs, flashlights and gift cards be donated. The donated items will be given to the Black Mountain Children’s home for their supply closet.
“We want to give back to the community,” Sgt. Bert Alexander of the Buncombe County Detention Center stated. “Being part of this donation drive gives the employees of the Detention Center an opportunity to interact with the community we serve in a positive setting.”
The Buncombe County Sheriff’s Office has partnered with the Black Mountain Children’s Home for four years to provide the children at the home with gifts and items on their wish lists.
