Relocation of Parking, Entryway & Some Health Services at BCHHS

Buncombe County Health and Human Services has begun construction of an addition to the 40 Coxe Avenue location in downtown Asheville. BCHHS is open and will continue to provide services during construction. To accommodate the construction, the parking lot and Parking changes at 40 Coxe Avenuefront entrance have been relocated.

Parking changes at 40 Coxe Avenue

Free parking for BCHHS visitors is available from 7:30 a.m. and 5 p.m. in the lot next to the downtown bus station, directly across the street from 40 Coxe Avenue. The new parking entrance can be accessed at the intersection of Aston Street and Coxe Avenue. Handicapped parking spaces and a bike rack are available on Aston Street (right next to the building).

New front entrance at 40 Coxe Avenue

The new front entrance is located on Coxe Avenue directly across the street from the bus station and customer parking. 

Services located at 40 Coxe Avenue:

  • Food Assistance
  • Medicaid
  • Work First
  • Youth Employment Permits
  • The Women, Infants and Children (WIC) and Child Care Subsidy programs will remain at 40 Coxe Ave. until a new location is confirmed this summer.

Some services temporarily relocated to 53 S. French Broad Avenue

Immunizations and Clinical Health Services are now housed at 53 S. French Broad Avenue.

Services Located on the Lower Level (Basement):

  • Immunizations
  • Foreign Travel
  • TB Skin Test

Services Located on the Second Floor:

  • Family Planning/Birth Control
  • STD Clinic
  • TB Services
  • Breast and Cervical Cancer Control Program

Parking for health services at 53 S. French Broad Avenue is available at the back of the building, on the ground level.

Construction is expected to be completed within the next two years. Upon completion, all health services that were temporarily relocated to 53 S. French Broad Avenue will be moved back to 40 Coxe Avenue.
