Construction at 40 Coxe & Temporary Move of Some Health Services

Buncombe County will begin construction of an addition to the current 40 Coxe Avenue location in downtown Asheville in early April. During construction, this will mean changes in parking and the entryway at 40 Some HHS programs are moving to temporary sites.Coxe Avenue and the temporary relocation of immunizations and clinical services to 53 S. French Broad Avenue. Construction is expected to be completed within the next two years.

  • 53 S. French Broad Avenue: Temporary Relocation of Immunizations and Clinical Services
    Effective Wednesday, April 1, 2015, some health services are moving to 53 S. French Broad Avenue.  They are:
    • Immunizations & Foreign Travel Vaccines,
    • Family Planning,
    • STD Clinic,
    • Breast & Cervical Cancer Control Program (BCCCP), &
    • TB (Tuberculosis) Testing.

Immunizations and Foreign Travel Vaccines will be located on the Ground Floor of 53 S. French Broad and all other services will be located on the second floor.

Parking is available in the front and on the back side of the building. 

  • 40 Coxe Avenue: Services staying and changes in parking and entryway access
    Services staying at 40 Coxe Avenue are:
    • Food Assistance,
    • Medicaid,
    • Work First, &
    • Youth Employment Permits.

The Women, Infants and Children (WIC) & Child Care Subsidy programs will remain at 40 Coxe Avenue until a new location to house them is confirmed in May.

  • Parking changes at 40 Coxe Ave.
    Free parking for visitors will be located in the lot next to the downtown bus station. The new parking entrance will be on Coxe Avenue, right at the intersection of Aston Avenue and Coxe Avenue, directly next to the downtown bus station. Handicapped parking spaces will be on Aston Ave.
  • Front entrance moving at 40 Coxe Avenue
    The front entrance will be located on Coxe Avenue directly across from the bus station.
