Buncombe County invites you to participate in your local government by volunteering for service on a Board, Commission, or Committee! Join the team of more than 2,000 County employees, elected officials, boards and commission members and other volunteers that work to improve our Community.
Boards, committees, and commission members aid the governing process by keeping Buncombe County in touch with the ideas and attitudes of its citizens. They help provide direction for the allocation of funds, the provision of human services, protection of citizens, property and our natural resources. The input of the citizens is vitally important to the success of our County.
Some of these advisory bodies have been established by State law and their authority is defined in the North Carolina General Statutes. The Board of County Commissioners has created additional boards for specific areas of service. You are invited to apply.

These Committees meet every other month. Members are required to make visits to adult care homes or nursing homes on an assignment basis. If you have a relative in an adult care home or nursing home or if you are employed by an adult care home or nursing home, you are not eligible to serve either of these Committees.
If you or someone you know would be interested in serving on the Adult Care Home Advisory Committee or the Nursing Home Community Advisory Committee, please contact Kathy Hughes, Clerk to the Board at (828) 250-4105 or by email at firstname.lastname@example.org. She can provide you with an application, or you can download one from this site.
