The Buncombe County WIC Team has been awarded the USDA’s Loving Support of Excellence award for the 2nd year in a row. “The award program was established to recognize local WIC agencies that have provided exemplary breastfeeding promotion and support activities.” This year, they were honored with the Gold Premier level designation. They were one of only 12 programs in the US to receive this distinction. Congratulations to the Buncombe County WIC program for their continued success in serving families in Buncombe County.
Notably, WIC has utilized the expertise of breastfeeding peer counselors and continues to provide an amazing level of support to breastfeeding moms and babies in Buncombe. The WIC team is very active in community events and tirelessly advocates for the health and wellness of all babies, children and families in Buncombe County.
