Justice Resource Center Now Open

On November 7, the Justice Resource Center held its official open house.

Involvement in the criminal justice system can carry lifelong impacts on the health, safety, and well-being of individuals, families and neighborhoods. Many individuals with justice involvement are also impacted by poverty, trauma, mental illness and/or substance abuse.

The Justice Resource Center assists people in accessing services to support them on a path to stability and wellness through an array of on-site services as well as extensive case management. It links justice-involved individuals to housing, employment, mental health and substance abuse treatments, and more.

The Center focusses on services for low-level, non-violent offenders.

Some pre-trial defendants can engage in the program as a diversion option, with participation in exchange for the dismissal of charges. Services are also available for post-conviction offenders and others referred by the courts. Services at the Center are provided at no cost to participants. The Center is open Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

The Justice Resource Center is made possible with funding support from the Buncombe County Board of Commissioners with input from system leaders in the Justice Resource Advisory Council. Onsite service providers include:

  • A-B Tech
  • Buncombe County Health and Human Services
  • Pisgah Legal Services
  • RHA Health Services
  • Sunrise Community for Health and Wellness
