Employee Spotlight: Tax Collections Earns More Certifications

Tax Collections continues to build its good credit as two more employees earn their NC Tax Collection Association’s Assistant Tax Collectors certification. Lisa Jenkins and Kristine Teis join a group of other Tax Collectors who have passed the demanding course hosted by the NC School of Government and NC Department of Revenue. “This certification not only shows a dedication and passion to their work, but ensures they are up to date on best practices so they can best serve our community,” says Director of Tax Collections Jennifer Pike.

Lisa states that being committed to delivering the best possible service possible means engaging in continuing education. “It is imperative to be involved in classes and seminars that make the law understandable and workable in everyday occurrences,” she says. “This gives me the opportunity to put more tools in my toolbox which in turn allows me to better serve the citizens of Buncombe County. That makes me smile.”

Kristine notes that tax collections is a dynamic industry and it’s their responsibility to keep up with changes. “Attending classes and informational sessions are excellent ways to learn the laws and procedures of the NC Statues that govern tax collection,” she explains. “Being certified as an Assistant Tax Collector shows my commitment in providing our citizens with the most up to date information and accurate answers to their tax questions.”

Congratulations to Lisa and Kristine on this professional accomplishment and dedication to our community. Buncombe County is proud of your hard work and commitment.
