Buncombe County--The Buncombe County Sheriff’s Office is aware of reports that Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) has conducted operations in western North Carolina over the last 48 hours. The Buncombe County Sheriff’s Office has not participated in these operations in any manner; this Sheriff’s Office does not participate in the 289-(g) program, and at the time of this release, we are not currently holding any immigration detainees arrested from yesterday’s ICE operations in the Buncombe County Detention Facility.
