New HHS Director, Jim Holland

We are pleased to announce that Jim Holland has been appointed as the new Director of Buncombe County Health and Human Services. His many years of experience include his role as the Director of the Human Services Support Team where he oversees budget and finance; operations; planning and evaluation; and quality assurance and compliance across the agency. Prior the consolidation of HHS, he worked in many areas of DSS and he was key in merging DSS, Economic Services, and Health into one department. Jim currently represents BCHHS on many county-wide and regional initiatives, including the Buncombe County Safety Net, Vulnerable Populations Task Force and Western NC Substance Use Alliance. He holds an MBA from Wingate University.

As a long-time HHS employee Jim believes strongly in the mission of the agency and respects the dedication of HHS staff saying, “This organization has an incredibly passionate and highly trained staff that work every day in partnership with individuals, families, organizations, and community partners to assure public health and social services are delivered with integrity and at a high level of quality. I am honored to work with such an outstanding group and look forward to working together for a healthier, safer and more self-sufficient Buncombe County.”

His first day as the BCHHS Director will be July 1, 2017. Please welcome Jim in his new role!
