Learn How You Can Get Health Insurance

The next annual enrollment period to sign up for federal health insurance begins November 15, 2014. Health insurance coverage will begin January 1, 2015.

Even though enrollment in health insurance is not “open” right now, you may still be able to sign up for health insurance.  The Affordable Care Act (ACA) provides Special Enrollment Periods to get health insurance if a Qualifying Life Event has happened to you in the last 60 days.

Qualifying Life Events:

  • Loss of Employer coverage
  • Loss of Medicaid, Health Choice or COBRA
  • Marriage, Divorce or Death of a spouse
  • Birth or adoption of a child
  • New Job or new income that makes you subsidy eligible
  • New Resident to NC or from a different region of NC
  • Gaining Citizenship Status
