Kids Safe Summer Events at Local Pools

Accidental injury is the number one killer of children age 14 and under. 90% of accidental injuries can be prevented.

Kids Safe Summer events at Buncombe County Pools highlight child safety for summer and year round:

• Mission Hospital’s Safe Kids WNC will feature safety in and around vehicles, answers to new car seat guidelines, bicycle and pedestrian safety.
• The Fire Department will have equipment for children to inspect and can answer questions about fire safety.
• Buncombe County Parks, Greenways and Recreation Services has planned arts and crafts and will answer questions about water safety.
• Met Life, in conjunction with the Buncombe County Sheriff’s Department will have Kid ID kits available.

Kid friendly handouts will be available. Bring the family for an afternoon of safety and swimming fun. The cost to swim is $3 per person.

Events will take place from Noon until 3 p.m. at the following pool locations:

• Cane Creek Pool - Fletcher

• Hominy Valley Pool - Candler
  Monday, June 13
• North Buncombe Pool - Weaverville
  Wednesday, June 15
• Owen Pool - Swannanoa
