Buncombe County is committed to open communications and transparent government. To that end, we’ve made it safe and easy for the community to report their concerns. Some examples of feedback you might provide could be around issues of County fraud, mismanagement of funds or resources, abuse of authority, misconduct of a Buncombe County employee, or poor customer service.

So if you see something, say something: 866-908-7236. All calls are answered by a third-party, independent agency. Callers may provide information anonymously or leave contact information. Your information will be relayed to the County’s Internal Auditor for review.

For Employees

We offer multiple ways of reporting concerns in an effort to remove any barriers that might keep an employee from voicing their concerns.

Buncombe County is committed to open communications and transparent government. To that end, we’ve made it safe and easy for County employees to report their concerns. Some examples of feedback you might provide could be around issues of County fraud, mismanagement of funds or resources, abuse of authority, or misconduct of a Buncombe County employee.

All calls are answered by a third-party, independent agency and relayed to the County’s Internal Auditor who works with those departments involved, including HR and Legal, to address the identified issue. Callers may provide information anonymously or leave contact information.

In addition, County employees using the hotline are protected by a No-Retaliation Policy.

Please be advised, calls to the Employee Protection Hotline that more accurately reflect a personnel grievance or an issue of discrimination or harassment will be handled as a Human Resources investigation rather than by the Internal Auditor.

Sheriff’s Department grievances have a different protocol. The County’s Human Resources may take reports but then these reports must be referred to the Sheriff's Department Office of Professional Standards. You can reach that office directly at (828) 250-4485.
