Anytime Fun at the Library This Summer

Kids are invited to join the fun, anytime at the library this summer! Many locations are offering take-home activities or make-and-do crafts to complete while you're visiting the library. If you explore our library system, you might get a fun surprise and learn how to make a tail for a book, fold an animal-friend bookmark, or decorate a dragon tail!

Enka-Candler Library

• Guess the Tail! There will be an image at the circulation desk of a tail each week and if you guess which animal the tail belongs to, you get a small prize.
• Search and Find! Each week there will be an image hidden somewhere in our library that is either a fairy tale character or an animal with an amazing tail - find the image and flip it over to read a few fun facts about the character/animal in the picture.
• Craft! We will have a different take-home craft for kids to do each month of the summer.

Fairview Library

• Throughout the month of June, drop by the Fairview Public Library and pick up your Fancy Nancy DIY Kit. In the kit, you’ll find all kinds of fancy things—fancy pencil and notebook, stickers, activities and more. In five of the kits, there is a special certificate that can be redeemed for a brand new Fancy Nancy book the next time you visit the library. The certificates will be added to the kits randomly. Please note that the kits can be picked up in person at the Fairview Library only. You can pick up kits only for the number of kids that live in your household. Kits can’t be placed on hold.  Supplies are limited. Ages 5-12
• Throughout the month of July, drop by the Fairview Public Library and pick up your Jedi Training Academy DIY kit. In the kit, you’ll find everything you need to graduate from the academy: pencil notebook, stickers, activities and more. In five of the kits, there is a special certificate that can be redeemed for a brand new Star Wars book the next time you visit the library. The certificates will be added to the kits randomly. Please note that the kits can be picked up in person at the Fairview Library only. You can pick up kits only for the number of kids that live in your household. Kits can’t be placed on hold. Supplies are limited. Ages 5-12

Leicester Library

• Attention all super sleuths! There are ten tricky tails hiding inside the Leicester Branch ... can you find them all? Just request a Scavenger Hunt Checklist at front desk when you visit and start searching. Tails will change periodically throughout the summer and might even venture outside!

Pack Library

• The make-and-do craft tables are back, and we’re sending craft activities home with kids, too! Spend some time playing in our game corner, and then check out our new Take & Play offerings. BCPL cardholders may check out board games, ukuleles, disc golf sets, and lawn games from the Youth Services department at Pack. Call us for more details!

Swannanoa Library

• Tails Seek, Find & Identify! There is a collection of tails scattered around our library from our animal friends. Eight tails...can you find them all and name the animals they belong to? Leave them where you find them...come up and get your prize when you can name at least 4 of the tails you found. Happy Hunting!
• Grab horseshoes or a hula hoop or bring your own basketball or soccer ball and go have fun in our park--we have a basketball hoop and goals for soccer.
