What's Happening at Your Libraries this May?

The Buncombe County Public Library System is a great resource for the entire family for great activities throughout May. Every branch library has everything from stories times and educational programs for kids, great history sessions and book clubs for adults, and much more. Here are just a handful of great events taking place soon:

  • Become an ecoEXPLORER!
  • Wednesday, May 18 at 3:30PM
  • Pack Memorial Library
  • 67 Haywood St., Asheville
  • Scientists need your help in studying plants and animals everywhere, including your own back yard. Join them for this great initiative co-sponsored by the Friends of the Arboretum and you will receive a free magnifying glass to aid in your future explorations.
  • Teen Awesome Group - Cupcake Wars!
  • Friday, May 20 at 4PM
  • Weaverville Library
  • 41 N. Main Street, Weaverville
  • Everyone 6th grade and up is welcome to join the Team Awesome Group for their end-of-the-year cupcake war celebration. Decorate your own cupcake in this friendly competition and then enjoy devouring your artistic creation. All supplies will be provided, so bring your friends!
  • Kid's Game Day
  • Friday, May 20th at 4PM
  • Black Mountain Library 
  • 105 N. Dougherty St., Black Mountain
  • All ages are welcome to take part in this board game extravaganza with over 20 board games to play. So bring your friends, and enjoy the games, music, and fun!
  • Huge Used Book Sale
  • Saturday, May 28 from 10AM - 3PM
  • Weaverville Library
  • 41 N. Main Street, Weaverville
  • Why go to the store and spend $15-$25 on a book when you can get them for a couple bucks. They not only have books, but CDs, DVDs, and more. The best part, proceeds from the book sale will benefit the Friends of the Weaverville Library to sponsor more great events throughout the year.
