Adult League Dodgeball-- Sign Up Now!

Dodge, duck, dip, dive, and dodge. Master the five “D”s of dodgeball and prepare yourself for the big leagues. Or for those who are looking for a way to get active and have fun, you can reminisce about all the dodgeball you played in gym class (without the apprehension of getting picked last).  Maybe it’s time to even up the score?

Buncombe County Recreation Services invites you to “Come Out and Play” in the Winter Adult Dodge Ball League. Your rise to dodgeball superstardom begins on Tuesday evenings starting January 10. The games will be played at the Asheville Jewish Community Center at 236 Charlotte Street in Asheville and runs January 10, 2017 thru February 28, 2017. Balls start flying at 6:15pm.

Registration is priced at $30 per player or $175 per team (six people per team).

Registration is open.

Forget the hard rubber you got pummeled with during recess, matches use soft-centered balls to keep hard impacts at a minimum and to increase the speed of play. Matches are scored and refereed by Recreation Services staff. Teams are responsible for providing their own mascots, cheer squads, and dance accompaniment, if desired.

The season consists of eight weeks of fasted-pace play. Matches are capped at five minutes with multiple rounds of play each night. Sweat bands are encouraged. The last week of play determines overall bragging rights with a round robin tournament. The tournament’s victorious team will receive a plaque recognizing their achievement and the adoration of local dodgeball enthusiasts.

Contact Karla Furnari at (828.250.6705 or karla.furnari@buncombecounty.org) to sign up or for additional details on how you can dodge, duck, dip, dive, and dodge your way into the season.
