East Asheville Library

Discover new worlds with East Asheville Library’s immersive and impressive comic book and graphic novel selection featuring upward of 1,000 volumes to choose from. Graphic novels offer fresh and imaginative spins on classics alongside a treasure trove of original, award-winning stories with content catering to adults, young adults, and children. “No matter what your age, you can find everything from manga to graphic memoirs,” notes Librarian Alexandra Duncan.

Of course, epic exploration calls for an equally majestic soundtrack. “We also have a popular music collection, with eclectic choices and lots of new releases in multiple genres,” says Alexandra. With nearly 2,000 CDs to choose from, you’re sure to find the perfect music to supplement your reading selections.

The East Asheville Library is also well-stocked with traditional books and magazines. And speaking of books, there are plenty of story time options. “Our story hours for babies and preschoolers are a lot of fun and very popular. We have a weekly craft after each preschool story time and free play with interactive toys and music after each baby story time,” explains Alexandra.

The East Asheville Library also has regular and one-time programs such as:

  • Instrument making workshop.
  • Interactive museum exhibits.
  • Preschool (ages 3-5) story time every Wednesday at 11 a.m.
  • Baby (ages 6-18 months) story time every Saturday at 11 a.m.
  • Monthly book club for adults every first Thursday of the month at 6:30 p.m.
  • Hip-hop dance class.
  • An entire, up-to-date calendar of programs and events.

Have you ever felt the East Asheville Library looks familiar? If so, it’s because famous, local architect Tony Lord designed the building. He’s also responsible for notable landmarks such as UNC Asheville’s Ramsey Library and the Asheville Citizen-Times building.
