Public Hearing on Community Transportation Program Applications - Nov. 17

There will be a public hearing to consider the proposed FY 2022 Community Transportation Program Application to be submitted to the North Carolina Department of Transportation on Tuesday, Nov.17, at 5 p.m., in Room 326 at 200 College Street in downtown Asheville.

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, no public attendance will be permitted. The public will be able to watch the meeting via Facebook Live @Buncombegov or on BCTV. Those interested in participating in the public hearing and needing either auxiliary aids or services under the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) or a language translator should contact Lamar Joyner, Clerk to the Board, on or before Nov. 13, at (828) 250.4101 or via email at lamar.joyner@buncombecounty.org.

The Buncombe County Board of Commissioners is taking public comment for the public hearing through live phone calls as opposed to in-person commenting. To sign up please click the "Register for Public Comment" button at the top of the Buncombe County Commissioners website at www.buncombecounty.org/commissioners. The registration window is only available between Wednesday, Nov. 11, at 5 p.m., and Monday, Nov. 16, at 3 p.m. prior to the Nov. 17, 2020 meeting date.

The Community Transportation Program provides assistance to coordinate existing transportation programs operating in Buncombe County as well as provides transportation options and services for the communities within this service area. Current services are provided by Mountain Mobility using demand response services and deviated fixed routes

This application may be inspected beginning Nov. 9, 2020, at Buncombe County Planning and Development Department, 46 Valley St., Asheville, NC, from Monday – Friday between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. Written comments should be directed to Vicki Jennings, Transit Program Manager, before Nov. 17, 2020.
