The Real Estate division of the Buncombe County Tax Department is currently conducting property reviews across the County. These reviews are needed to verify our records and maintain accurate real estate data. We currently have Staff working in the following locations; North Buncombe County, Northwest Buncombe County, South Buncombe County and Southwest Buncombe County.

All Buncombe County Tax Department staff will be wearing an official Buncombe County photo ID and will be driving a Buncombe County vehicle. All Buncombe County vehicles will have an official Buncombe County seal on the vehicle doors.

No Buncombe County Tax Department employee will ever visit your property without showing official ID. If you would like to contact our office to verify the person visiting your property is a Buncombe County Tax Department employee then please call our office at 828-250-4940. Please present the name of the person visiting your property and our staff will be happy to verify the person is a Buncombe County Tax Department employee.
No Buncombe County Tax Department employee will ask to enter your home. If you have such a request you should call our office to verify the person’s name. If you have received no name from the person and have seen no photo ID you should never assume this person is a Buncombe County employee and therefore never allow them to enter your home.
If you have concerns that someone is attempting to gain access to your home by presenting themselves as a Buncombe County employee you should call the Buncombe County Sheriff or you local police department.
