From Soil & Water:
On Sept. 8, Buncombe County’s Soil & Water Conservation District was hard at work filming virtual field days so environmental education can continue! Due to COVID-19, in-person field days were canceled, but that couldn’t keep the BCSWCD staff from continuing the show! BCSWCD and resource specialists gathered to film each station: watershed, soils, salamanders, stream ecology, reptile ecology, wildlife, invasive species, waste reduction, stream table and falconry. Nothing can replace hands on learning in the natural environment, but we are thrilled to bring students virtual field days until we are back in the outdoor classroom. The virtual classes will be readily available within the next few weeks for elementary, middle, and high schools. We would like to say a special thank you to all our volunteers who helped make this possible.
If you have any questions or would like to bring Field Days to your classroom please contact Taira Lance, the Environmental Educator at taira.lance@buncombecounty.org or (828) 250-4787.
