Read to Children and Spread the Joy

Do you love to read? Do you like children? The Preschool Outreach Project (POP) is currently looking for volunteers! POP is an outreach service of the library, a program designed to bring the joy and excitement of books to children in child care centers.

If you're interested in volunteering, attend an upcoming POP training taking place on:

The children we serve are often unable to attend story time programs in their local library, and so we bring the very best the library has to offer straight to them.  Our volunteers offer stories, songs, puppets and smiles to our youngest book lovers- children ages 2-5.

No formal experience is needed, just a strong commitment to both children and reading. Most volunteers spend approximately five hours per month on POP, reading twice a month at their assigned center. We ask that volunteers commit to participate with our program for one full school year. All story time materials are provided by the library.

Buncombe County Libraries have more than just books. Our libraries are community hubs where citizens of all ages can find information, services, and amazing programs. Find a library in your community where you can read, learn, and discover. As a resident in Buncombe County, you are a community owner in our County-run services and programs such as our public libraries and all their amenities. We encourage everyone to take advantage of these County benefits!
