OurVoice is a non-profit here in Asheville whose goal is to have a community free of sexual violence. They serve everyone in Buncombe County affected by sexual assault and abuse through counseling, advocacy, and education. Coming up is their 7th annual Walk a Mile Event.
It's taking place on Saturday, May 7 at 19am beginning at Pack Square Park/Roger McGuire Green in downtown Asheville. Walk a mile is the people's march against rape, sexual assault, and gender violence. They are encouraging both men and women to walk in the shoes of another. In previous years, that meant men wore heels, but it's certainly not required to participate.
