The New York Times recently reported that drug deaths in America are rising faster than ever. Buncombe County EMS has responded to 1,270 overdose calls in the first five months of 2017. County administrators, healthcare providers and leaders met with North Carolina State Attorney General Josh Stein recently to discuss the opioid epidemic facing our region.
Attorney General Stein sat in on a meeting of Buncombe County’s Safety Net Coalition, which is comprised primarily of medical providers and organizations who serve the under and uninsured in our community.
