Not For Children Only: Children's Classics for Adults at Pack Library

Pack Memorial Library
67 Haywood Street
250-4700

Want to learn more about great children’s literature? Here’s how: sign up for Pack Library’s book discussion program, Not for Children Only: Children’s Classics for Adults. By reading and discussing eight books, from traditional fairy tales through the modern children’s novel, you’ll learn why certain children’s books have become classics – because they're well-written and great stories.

This program is designed for adults, but interested teens and tweens are also welcome to participate. This is your chance to revisit old favorites or to enjoy them for the first time!

The program will run from 5:30-7:30 p.m. every other Thursday, from September 11 - November 20. Each of the six sessions will include opening remarks by children’s book editor Joy Neaves followed by group discussion.

Space is limited. Sign up now by calling 250-4717 or email library@buncombecounty.org. Free book loans are available for pickup at Pack Library’s adult services desk beginning August 15.

  • November 6 - Dragonwings by Laurence Yep & The Giver by Lois Lowry
  • November 20 - Wonder by R.J. Palacio

This “Let’s Talk About It” project is made possible by a grant from the North Carolina Humanities Council, the state affiliate of the National Endowment for the Humanities, in partnership with the North Carolina Center for the Book, a program of the State Library of North Carolina.
