Personal Meaning Making: The Poetry of Patrick Bahls

Tuesday, April 22 at 7pm
West Asheville Library
942 Haywood Road
250-4750

Join Dr. Patrick Bahls, Associate Professor of Math and Honors Program Director at UNC Asheville, and his colleague, Dr. Rick Chess, Professor of Language and Literature and Director of the Center for Jewish Studies at UNC Asheville, for an evening of poetry at the West Asheville Library.

Dr. Bahls began writing poetry some years ago as “a means of reflection and personal meaning-making” and has recently begun sharing his work with a wider audience.  His poems have appeared in a number of literary journals, including Adirondack Review, Eunoia Review, Green Mountain Review and others.  “Above all,” he says, “I enjoy poets who prize economy, who can convey great meaning in a sparse few images and words.”  Dr. Chess, author of three books of poetry, will introduce the program and also share a poem or two.

This free program is sponsored by The Friends of West Asheville Branch Library.  For more information contact the library at 250-4750 or email westasheville.library@buncombecounty.org.
