This fall, Pack Memorial Library will present a “Let’s Talk About It” reading and discussion series called Imagining the 
Future: Scientific Revelations in Fiction.
By studying five classic science fiction novels, readers will be able to explore differing attitudes toward science and reflect on predictions which have sometimes turned out to be strikingly accurate. Guest humanities professors from UNC-Asheville and Appalachian State will lead the discussions which begin Tuesday, October 22 at 6 pm and continue every other Tuesday evening through December 17.
This book discussion series is free and open to the public, but registration is required and a limited number of library books are available. Participants may register and pick up their books at the Pack Memorial Library readers assistance desk two weeks prior to each session, with the first novel being available beginning October 8. The library will loan the books at no charge.
