Sheriff Van Duncan authorized the installation of a new Memorial Marker for officers that gave their lives in the line of duty at the Buncombe County Sheriff’s Office located at 202 Haywood Street in Asheville.
The Memorial Marker honors all officers from all departments within the county. There are 16 officers named on the memorial dating back to 1906. The Memorial Marker is displayed in the flower garden located by the front entrance of the Sheriff’s Office, which is maintained by Front-desk Receptionist, Henrietta Shook.
