Wester North Carolina Regional Air Quality Agency is
a self-supporting, local air quality regulatory agency
formed by an interlocal agreement between Buncombe County
and the City of Asheville. The Agency is governed by
a five member Air Quality Board, which is made up of
three appointees from Buncombe County and two appointees
from the City of Asheville.
The Agency goals are to:
- Achieve and maintain the National Ambient Air Quality
Standards
- Protect public health, safety and welfare through
industriall compliance with local, state and federal
air quality regulations
- Minimize public exposure to asbestos through enforcement
of local, state and federal regulations and
- Provide educational resources to the public regarding
air quality issues
