UNC Asheville – Wilma Sherrill Center
Buncombe County and the City of Asheville, in partnership with UNC Asheville, present “Realizing the Benefits of Inclusion & Diversity”, which will take place on Thursday, April 25 at the Wilma Sherrill Center at UNC Asheville.
Our keynote speaker, Robert Livingston, is a leader in diversity research. His talk will focus on compelling research that uncovers persistent implicit barriers that undermine the potential of an organization to fully realize the benefits of a diverse and inclusive work environment, and, he will offer steps toward building effective teams that lead to better innovation and competitive advantage in the business world. Dr. Livingston will be joined by regional economist Tom Tveidt who will provide an analysis of current and future demographics of the state and region.
Other offerings include 18 breakout sessions with topics such as HR Basics for Transparent and Fair Policies, Mentoring Transformed for 2013, and Building Effective Diverse Teams.
The conference will conclude with a panel of organizational representatives from Wells Fargo, the Asheville Fire Department, and the US Forest Service and others who have instituted best practices for equity and inclusion.
