Economic Services:
State-County Special Assistance

Economic Services: State-County Special AssistanceSpecial Assistance is an assistance payment to eligible individuals who reside in licensed domiciliary homes, rest homes or family care homes. Medical assistance (Medicaid) is also provided to help pay medical bills.

To be eligible for this service you must be:

  • Age 65+
  • Disabled
  • Buncombe county resident
  • Meet reserve limits for program
  • FL-2, licensed facility
Hours of Operation:

Monday through Friday
8:00am - 5:00pm


Appointment Procedure

  • Apply in person
  • Representative may apply

What to bring with you

  • Social Security Card
  • Birth Certificate
  • Income Verification

How are services paid for?

Program costs are paid by 50% county dollars and 50% state dollars.
