Buncombe County Child Care Services, Child Care Resource & Referral is available to answer your questions and provide information on choosing quality child care. A Resource Library and Child Care Brochures (several written in Spanish) are available at Buncombe County Child Care Services to assist parents as they search and compare options.

• Ask: What early childhood education qualifications the director & staff have.
• Ask: What is the program's Star rating?
• Look: Does the program look safe for your child?
• Look: Do the caregivers appear to enjoy talking and playing with children?
• Listen: What does the child care setting sound like?
• Listen: Do the children seem happy and engaged?

Our parent counselors can assist you in locating care for your child. They can also answer questions and concerns you may have about child care in general, and what to look for in choosing a quality program. You may contact a parent counselor by calling (828) 250-6700. Our office and phone line is open at the following times: Monday, Wednesday and Friday 8:00am - 5:00pm, Tuesday and Thursday 8:00am - 6:00pm If you would like to request further information about locating or choosing quality child care, please complete the "Request for Quality Child Care Information" form, and a parent counselor will contact you the next business day.

If you have concerns about a child care provider, we can help direct you to the appropriate authorities. Parents may call Buncombe County Child Care Services and speak to a Parent Counselor on the phone, or may come into the office to speak to a Parent Counselor in person.
