Eligibility/Service Area
Eligibility may be determined by a number of factors including
where a person lives, their age, what type of trip is needed
(e.g., medical, shopping, etc.), Medicaid eligibility, association
as a human service agency client, and/or if other transportation
is available (e.g., family car, city bus.) General public
transportation is limited to passengers who reside outside
of the City of Asheville.
Mountain Mobility serves all of Buncombe County. Passenger
service may be restricted to certain areas, destinations,
or trip purposes, depending on eligibility and/or funding
availability.
Individuals may call Mountain Mobility to determine eligibility
and service options. Callers will be asked to provide the
passenger's name, street address, phone number, date of birth,
and social security number. Other information may be requested
based on eligibility factors.
In general, passenger transportation is paid for through
various grants and funding sources as determined by eligibility
factors. Fares are applied to general public transportation
services. Passengers will be informed if fares are applicable
when they sign up for service.
