Buncombe County Tax Office
The Tax Department lists, appraises and assesses
all real and personal property in Buncombe County, and collects
tax payments for Buncombe County and other taxing districts.
We are in located in Room 320 on the 3rd Floor
of the Buncombe County Courthouse, 60 Court Plaza in downtown
Asheville. Tax office hours are 8:00am through 5:00pm Monday
through Friday.
Payment Drop Box Location:
Our convenient drive-up payment box has been moved to a permanent location at the Buncombe County Health Center, 35 Woodfin Street. The payment box is located on the driver’s side of the driveway as you exit the Health Center. There will be signs to direct you. |

House Bill 1779
Interest on Vehicle Tax
Effective January 1, 2006 interest of 5% will be added to any unpaid balance on the “Date Interest Begins”, an additional ¾ percent interest will be added to any unpaid balance at the beginning of each subsequent month.
Elderly persons and persons with disabilities may qualify for property tax relief from Buncombe County.
