An organization’s reputation, and even its continued existence can depend on the degree to which its customers support its goals and policies. At the Sheriffs Office our customers are the citizens of Buncombe County, building and maintaining positive relationships with the citizenry is vital to our success.

The Public Information Officer is responsible for establishing and maintaining cooperative relationships with the public as well as representatives from print and broadcast journalism. The P.I.O. handles all news releases and works with the members of the Buncombe County Sheriffs Office to present a positive and professional image. It is the job of the P.I.O. to “tell the organization’s story.”
