Vital Records

This office issues Buncombe Counties most vital records:

• births
• deaths
• marriage license
• marriage certificates

We are committed to the preservation and security of these records. Certified copies are issued for people who are born, die, or obtain a marriage license in Buncombe County. We must operate this office in statutory compliance with the ability to accurately produce a legible, complete, and reproducible record in a timely manner. Vital Records are not accessible by Internet connection.

To obtain a certified copy of one of these documents (birth, death or marriage certificate) the form listed in the table below can be downloaded and mailed to our office with a personal check or money order for $10.00 made to the Buncombe County Register of Deeds. We do not accept credit cards at this time.

Only the people listed on the application form are permitted to obtain a certified certificate. They must check the appropriate relationship on the form before we can issue a certified certificate. We also must have a return address so that we know where we are sending the certified document.
