| By law all documents
recorded in the Register of Deeds office are open for
public inspection. The original document must be presented
to the Register of Deeds for recording, containing original
signatures, and proof of acknowledgment (or notarization).
The recording fee for deeds and other papers is $14 for
the first page and $3 for each additional page. Prior
to being recorded, deeds conveying an interest in real
estate require payment by the grantor of an excise tax
stamp at a rate of $2 per $1,000 consideration begin given
for the property.
The name and address of the person preparing the document
must be on the face of the document. The address of
the person receiving the real estate must be on the
face of the document for tax purposes. This applies
to both deeds and deeds of trust.
Deeds of Trust have a recording fee of $14 for the
first page and $3 for each additional page. Satisfaction
of Deeds of Trust and Mortgage must be recorded. There is no fee
