If you and your fiancé are planning on getting married within the next 60 days in North Carolina, please fill out the Marriage Application by clicking on the button below:

Online Marriage Application: Open Application

Once the online application is completed, you and your fiancé will need to appear in our office at 35 Woodfin St anytime between the hours of 8:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m., Monday thru Friday, with your valid photo IDs and Social Security Cards.

  • The License is $60 and is valid for 60 days.
  • Once the ceremony is performed, the completed license must be returned to the Register of Deeds Office within 10 days. A certificate of marriage can then be issued.

  • If you are under the age of 21 and planning on getting married, please click here.
  • If you do not have your Social Security Card, please click here for other valid documents.
  • If one of the parties is unable to appear, that person must complete a sworn and notarized Affidavit. The other party must appear and present the Affidavit, along with copies of valid ID and Social Security Card.
  • If you’ve never been issued a Social Security number or are not eligible for one, the Register of Deeds will provide you with an Affidavit that will be signed and notarized in the office.
