Check out All of the Holiday Light Events this Season!

Festival of LightsCheck out all of the great light shows taking place in Buncombe County this holiday season!

  • Lake Julian Festival of Lights
  • December 2 - December 23
  • Lake Julian
  • 406 Overlook Road, Arden
  • It features thousands of colored lights and 50 animated stationary light displays. The drive through begins on December 2, but there will be a special walk-through event on Thursday, December 1 at sundown. There will be marshmallows for roasting, delicious hot chocolate, and a rumor that Santa will make an appearance.

  • NC Arboretum Winter Lights
  • November 28 - January 1
  • NC Arboretum
  • 100 Frederick Law Olmsted Way, Asheville
  • You can stroll through the over 500,000 lights throughout the garden with a light show at the large Christmas tree every 30 minutes. Don't forget to stop by the s'mores station, or the Education Center to pick up some 3-D glasses for an enhanced light show.

  • Shadrack's Christmas Wonderland Lights
  • November 23 - December 28
  • WNC Ag Center
  • 1301 Fanning Bridge Rd, Fletcher
  • You'll drive slowly through lots of twists and turns so you can view every light display from many angles. Don't forget to stop by Santa's Village (through December 23) to get some hot cocoa, kettle corn, and souvenirs, including a photo with the red guy himself. The entire show is synchronized to music for a truly interactive holiday experience.
