Employers

As an employer, what can the Mountain Area JobLink Career Center do for you?

We have a number of employer services available, all at no cost.  These services are described below.  If one or more of these are of interest to you, please contact the JobLink Career Center at (828) 250-4761.

 Posting Job Openings

If you have a position or positions to fill, we can post it in the JobLink Career Center and on our website.  Complete our Job Order Form, or give us a call and we'll fax one that you can complete and fax back to us.

 On-the-Job Training

This program can significantly reduce your costs in hiring and training qualified workers.  It works like this:

  • Applicants are pre-screened and matched to your specific needs.

  • You interview and make your own selection from a group of motivated applicants.

  • Based on information you provide on the training process, we write a training plan.

  • There is little to no paperwork for you to keep up with, we'll take care of that.

  • We reimburse your company for 50% of the worker's wages during training.

 Skills Testing

We have two outstanding assessments to help you determine if applicants have the skills required for jobs you need to fill:

  • Pre-Valuate is a computer program that measures a person's skill level with a specific computer software program, math, spelling, data entry, and keyboarding speed.  Once the test is completed, results are displayed in a graphic bar chart format.  Information provided includes percent correct and interpretive descriptions that identify if the person's skills fall into the Basic, Intermediate, or Advanced categories.  Some of the software programs assessed include recent versions of Microsoft Windows, Word, Excel, Access and PowerPoint, WordPerfect, Lotus, PhotoShop, Quattro Pro, and Quark Express.

  • CareerScope is a computerized assessment of interests and aptitudes.  The interest assessment identifies which jobs a person would be happiest in and the aptitude assessment determines whether the person has the skills to do that type of job.  The aptitudes measured fall into these categories:  General Learning, Verbal Aptitude, Numerical Aptitude, Spatial Aptitude, Form Perception, Clerical Perception, Motor Coordination, Finger Dexterity, and Manual Dexterity.  Your applicants don't have to complete the entire assessment.  We can work with you to determine which aptitudes are most important in the jobs you have available, then customize the assessment to test those aptitudes only.

 Company Downsizing/Closing

JobLink can present on-site workshops for workers who will be laid off.  These workshops include Career Assessment, Interviewing Skills, Resume Writing, and Creative Job Search.  For a complete description of these workshops, view the Workshops section.

 Employment Security Commission Representative

The Employment Security Commission is a JobLink partner and there is an ESC representative located full-time in the JobLink Career Center for your assistance.  When you list your job with JobLink, you can also list it with ESC.
