Blue Bag Instructions

  • Plastic soda bottles and milk jugs should be rinsed, flattened and placed in a blue bag. Be sure plastic containers are either #1 PETE or #2HDPE.
  • Aluminum and steel food and beverage cans should be rinsed and placed in a blue bag.
  • Clear, green, or brown glass bottles or jars should be rinsed and placed in a blue bag. Please remove all lids and rings from the glass.
  • Newspapers may be placed in the blue bag as well. They do not have to be bundled separately.
  • Cardboard must be flattened and tied in a bundle. This applies to corrugated cardboard only and does not include single ply board such as cereal or shoe boxes.

Please remember that plastic, metal, and glass go in the same blue bag. Cardboard must be bundled separately and placed at the curb with trash and blue bags for pick-up.
