Important Dates

• Last day to request an absentee ballot by mail is one week before any election. No excuse required. §G.S. 163-230.1(a2)(3) Request must be received in County Board of Elections office by 5:00 pm on the Tuesday before the election (any primary or election)


• Last day for absentee ballots to be returned to CBE office §G.S. 163-231(b) Must be received by mail, commercial courier service or in person by 5:00 pm on the day before the election (any primary or election)


• One stop absentee voting ends 1:00 pm the last Saturday before an election. A County Board of Elections may extend voting time until 5:00 pm that same Saturday.


• BOE canvass results for any election §G.S. 163-182.5(b) 11:00 AM on the seventh day following the election

* If the start date of absentee voting falls on a Saturday or Sunday, the ballots should be available on the Friday preceding the weekend date.

** There is no registration of voters between the first and second primaries.
