Help keep drugs out of the wrong hands and protect your family and the environment.

The Partnership for Substance Free Youth in Buncombe County has teamed up with Walgreens for National Drug Take Back Day - Saturday, October 26. All five Walgreens locations in Asheville will have law enforcement officers and volunteers from the Partnership there from 10 am - 2 pm to take in any unwanted or expired medications.

Please note that we can't take sharps or any radioactive medication such as cancer medications.

The five locations are as follows:

  • 91 S Tunnel Road
  • 841 Merrimon Avenue
  • 578 New Leicester Highway
  • 1835 Hendersonville Road
  • 2501 Hendersonville Road, Arden

If you can't make it on this day to drop off your drugs, please visit either of the two permanent drop boxes. Permanent drop-boxes are located in the lobby of the Buncombe County Sheriff’s Office and inside the Asheville Police Department by the Evidence Management section. Medicine can be dropped off Monday through Friday during regular business hours.

For more information, call the Buncombe County Sheriff's Office at 250-6670.
