General Statement of Duties
Uses a computer-aided dispatch system, receives 911 emergency calls from the public requesting law enforcement assistance. Determine the nature and location of the emergency, determine priorities and dispatch officers. Maintain contact with all units on assignment; maintain status and location of all units. Answer non emergency calls for assistance. Enter, update and retrieve information from a variety of computer systems. Monitor several complex public safety radio frequencies. Operate a variety of communications equipment, including radio consoles, telephones and computer systems. (# 2159) 

Special Requirements
Must be 21 years of age or older. 

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Strong oral communication skills. Basic computer skills. Requirement of at least 35 wpm typing skills. Ability to work rotating shifts, including weekends and holidays. Ability to multi task. Ability to handle stress in emergency situations. 

Minimum Education and Experience
High School Diploma or GED.
