Buncombe County has an average of 1,400 employees who serve as firemen, sheriff deputies, nurses, social workers, pharmacists, librarians, child care workers, emergency medical workers, permits and inspections, landfill workers, agriculture extension agents, naturalists, lifeguards, planners, tax assessors and administrators all working to insure the high quality of life we have all come to enjoy.
