The Master Gardener Program of the Office of Cooperative Extension of Buncombe County is a great local resource for garden enthusiasts, or for those who want to be and don't know where to start. They sponsor many classes throughout the year to help you have your yards looking their best year round. Their next class is coming up soon, and it's on pruning shrubs and small trees.
Pruning in the landscape is different than pruning tomatoes or doing bonsai pruning. However, it still requires the uses of time-tested techniques, good tools, and knowledge of the right time to prune a particular plant. Most importantly, it requires practice. Join Alan Wagner, Master Gardener, as he demonstrates the tools and techniques of pruning shrubs and small trees.
The event is free, but please pre-register by calling 828.255.5522. For more information or to see more great events like this coming up, visit buncombe.ces.ncsu.edu, or buncombemastergardener.org.
