Veterans Services Office Moving

The Buncombe County Veterans Services Unit is moving from 40 Coxe Avenue. It will re-open on Monday, August 15 at 8:00 a.m. in the County Administration Building. To get there, you can enter the front of the building (205 College Street) and take the elevator down to the basement level, or enter at the back of the building (11 Valley Street).

Valley Street is behind the Buncombe County Courthouse and is accessible from the round-about on College Street. Reserved parking for veterans is available outside the office in designated spots on Valley Street, or at the County Parking Deck on College Street. Office hours are 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday. Further adjustments are underway to meet the increased need for veteran services in our area, including additional office space and staff.

The Veterans Services Unit acts as a liaison between the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs and the North Carolina Division of Veterans Affairs in reference to veterans claims. The Veterans Services Unit also provides on-site counseling and assistance to Buncombe County veterans and their dependents in obtaining all benefits to which they are entitled from the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs and the State of North Carolina. Services available include: disability benefits; dependents’ and survivors’ benefits; education, training , and vocational rehabilitation; home loan guaranty; special adapted housing grant; special adapted automobile allowance; government life insurance; health care; and burial benefits.
